Explorer: Base Charts
On this page, we will explain how to configure different types of charts on Explorer Category view. Select your dataset, on an Explorer dashboard, set up Category View tab. Click on Charts as shown on How to set up aggregation and Charts.
Chart view
The process of setting up new charts on a chart view is very similar to setting up charts on a category view.
After your category view tab is set up, click on "Charts" under the overview chart to configure per-category charts.

A new page will open on which you can select your desired chart type among the 6+ possible options.
Column and Bar chart
Column and Bar charts are great tools to show data distribution over different categories.

Relevance AI - How to setup a Column or Bar chart
- Select Column or Bar as the chart type
- Specify the category field(s) you wish to present
- Specify the metrics field you wish to include on the chars, if not selected frequency will be illustrated. For setting up metrics:
- Select a numeric field
- Specify which metric to use (e.g. average, minimum, maximum, etc.)
- Type a name for the metric (optional)
- Select a color for the metric (optional)
- Hit save

Relevance AI - Set up metrics for a Column or Bar chart
- Tick "compare Frequency to Dataset", if you wish to see comparison between the whole dataset and single categories
- Select the sort-by parameter; if no metrics is set, frequency will be used by default
- Select the sort order (e.g. descending, ascending)
- Specify maximum number of categories to view on the chart - keep in mind that too many categories will make the view too compact and unreadable
- Hit save
Line chart
Line charts are great tools to illustrate the trend of changes. Setting up a Line Chart on Relevance AI is the same as setting up a Column or Bar chart, which was explained above. The only difference is to select "Line" under type of chart.
Pie chart
Pie charts are great tools to show data distribution over different categories.

- Select Pie as the chart type
- Specify the category field(s) you wish to present
- Select the sort-by parameter
- Select the sort order
- Specify maximum number of categories to view on the chart
- Hit save
Scatter plot
Scatter plots are great tools to illustrate data distribution in the scatter format.

Relevance AI - Set up a scatter plot
- Select Scatter as the chart type
- Specify the category field(s) you wish to present
- Specify which metric to use (e.g. average, minimum, maximum, etc.)
Note: for more details see metrics for Column and Bar charts above - Select the sort-by parameter. If no metrics is set, frequency will be used by default
- Select the sort order
- Specify maximum number of categories to view on the chart
- Hit save
