Release Notes - 7 September 2022

Another huge week for Relevance AI, but when isn’t it? πŸš€πŸš€πŸš€

  • You can now run workflows on the fly, while exploring your data insights.
  • We’ve also built a β€œNotion-for-data” page in the Explorer dashboard (think a blank canvas to take notes), where you can tell rich data stories πŸ“–

Let's take a look inside! πŸ‘‡

Bringing your data exploration and transformation together

We’ve brought workflows directly into your Explorer dashboard, so you can kickstart data transformations while doing your analysis.

Why does it matter?

Our Explorer dashboard makes it incredibly easy to drill into your unstructured data for insights. However, often what follows this is a need to do further transformations to create even more insight. We have brought these two things together, so you can run workflows directly from your place of analysis.

How does it work?

In your Explorer, you’ll now notice a Workflows button in the top right. Click that to bring up a list of your workflows.

Click on a workflow to start running it, without leaving the Explorer. Simply follow the steps and run in the cloud or in Google Colab.

Once you’ve run a Workflow, you’ll be able to track its progress in the History tab. You’ll also see previously run Workflows for this dataset.

Tell data stories with Notion-like reports: Introducing the data report page

We’ve built a Notion-like free form report builder for telling interactive and rich data stories πŸ“–

Why does it matter?

Communicating insight with stakeholders is not as simple as showing them a complex Category analysis dashboard, or grid of charts. Often you want to tell a story, contextualised with text and other media. The Data Report page in your Explorer helps you write content and embed live charts as you go!

How does it work?

Give your report a title and press the β€˜/’ key. A list of possible dynamic components appears - everything from headings, to image, video and Aggregation Charts.

You can set up charts just like you would elsewhere in the Explorer.

Click β€œFinish editing” to see your chart populated with data! This is what viewers you share this with will see.

But the magic of the Data Report is by surrounding your charts and components with useful written information. See below how we’ve been able to tell a data story to accompany our chart.

Other features in this release πŸ’―

Build on the fly workflows, and a Notion for data? Sounds like a full week! Nah - we’ve always got time for even more πŸ’ͺ

Hide fields from dropdowns

In your Dataset Settings, you can now β€œHide” certain fields. This will hide them from dropdowns where you or other users select fields. This is useful for hiding irrelevant fields, or boilerplate fields from workflows.

Your primary field adapts to category field

This is a quality of life improvement that could save you a lot of time! Now when you toggle the category in a Category View, we automatically adapt the primary field in your previewed documents to reflect the most relevant text field.

See below, we select AI generated categories that were based off the β€œReview Text” field.

Now when we preview data in our categories, the β€œReview Text” field has been selected as the primary field.

Tip of the week ✨

Want to clear all labels generated for AI categories in your dataset?

No need to go through every category in the Explorer, deleting the label manually.

Instead, head to the Monitor page in your sidebar and click on the β€œClusters” tab. Below the clusters coverage chart, you’ll be able to see all of your labels and update individual labels, or clear them in bulk!

Click β€œClear All Labels”, and they are gone! Blank slate.
